Petro-Canada Fuelling the DreamTM Fund
At Petro-Canada, we believe that success comes in many forms. It can be a podium finish, a first appearance at a competition or the opportunity to represent our nation on the world stage. Our athletes and coaches dedicate their time and efforts to train rigorously, set aggressive goals and prepare themselves mentally before experiencing the joy of competition.

I was 17 years old and had really big dreams - to win the Olympics and be part of the National Team. But I was desperately looking for funding. I wasn't an Olympic medalist; I wasn't a national record holder yet. Thank goodness Petro-Canada believes in future athletes, in coaches, and makes that investment in sport in Canada. |

Funding Legacy
In 1988, Petro-Canada sponsored the Olympic Torch Relay and subsequently, created the Olympic Torch Scholarship Fund (OTSF) from the proceeds of Torch Relay glasses as a legacy of the Olympic Winter Games in Calgary. Since that time, over $7 million in scholarships have been awarded to more than 2,300 non-carded athletes and coaches, making this program one of the largest sources of such private funding in Canada.
Twenty-two years later, Petro-Canada has entered a new era of athlete development. Working closely with our partners from the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Committees and the Coaching Association of Canada, we redesigned the OTSF program and developed the Petro-Canada Fuelling Athlete and Coaching Excellence (FACE)TM program. This program provides developing athletes and their coaches with $8,000 annually to help them reach the next level of athletic achievement.

Developing Athletes and Coaches Beyond 2010
Petro-Canada's $2.8 million support extends to FACETM - a funding program that focuses on developing the skills and capabilities of Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes and their coaches.
Petro-Canada is committed to preserving the athlete development legacy and to lending support beyond our current Olympic sponsorship of 2012.
