“Why not you”
Para swimmer Aurélie Rivard knows a thing or two about determination and drive. But she also knows self-doubt. It’s during these times that Coach Craig McCord asks her, “Why not you?” When the Paralympic Games were postponed, these words reminded her that even though the podium may seem further away than ever, she’s as skilled and driven as anyone else who might stand there in 2021.
Aurélie began swimming competitively in 2008, and since then she has gained global acclaim as one of the best para swimmers competing out there. Being born with an under-developed left hand has only amplified her ambition, and Coach McCord has been by her side throughout, ensuring she reaches her potential.
