Petro-Canada’s Fuelling Athlete and Coaching Excellence (FACE) Program supports aspiring Olympic and Paralympic athletes and their coaches. Every year, we select 55 up-and-coming athletes and their coaches from across Canada to receive a FACE grant. We give the grants to athletes and coaches when they need it the most – when they are striving to represent Canada at the Paralympic or Olympic Games but don't yet qualify for government funding.
Working with our National Sports Organization.
The National Sports Organization nominates candidates from across Canada who would benefit from a FACE grant. Then, a committee made up of representatives from Petro-Canada™, the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Canadian Paralympic Committee and the Coaching Association of Canada choose the recipients.
Helping athletes on their journey to the podium.
Potential Canadian Olympic athletes and Paralympic athletes are awarded a $10,000 FACE grant to help them along their journey, with $5,000 going directly to the athlete and $5,000 to the athlete's coach. These grants are often used for training, equipment, coach education and travel expenses for competitions.
